Lid, Sleep and Power¶
Closing the lid¶
Close the lid and the screen turns off and the game pauses. slot creates a save state and flushes your battery save to disk. Open it again and you're back in the game.
Leave it shut and slot powers off after 3 minutes. Next time you power on, it boots straight back into that game.
Change the wait with Lid Power Off in Settings → General. You can pick 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes.
No lid?¶
On devices without a lid, tap POWER to sleep and tap it again to wake. The Lid Power Off timer works the same way.
Powering off¶
Hold POWER for a second. slot saves, then powers off.
When the battery hits 5%, and you're not charging, slot saves and powers off by itself so a dead battery can't ruin your day with lost progress.
Restarting¶
Settings → About, then press X. Is this useful for anyone other than me? Probably not!
The clock¶
The first time slot boots, or if the clock ever reads as long ago, it asks you to set the time. You can change it later from Date & Time in Settings → General.

Pick the city nearest you that shares your time zone. slot moves the clock for daylight saving on its own.
Games with a clock on the cart, like Pokémon Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby and Sapphire, use it.
What about real deep sleep?¶
In my testing I've found the H700's deep sleep to be both unreliable and an energy hog.
Given that BaseOS boots in under 5 seconds I feel like this isn't a big loss.
